Punta Cana.– With a record-breaking number of delegates and business appointments, the Asociación de Hoteles y Turismo de la República Dominicana (Asonahores) successfully closed the DATE 2025 fair this Friday, with a message focused on the diversification of Dominican tourism by regions.
Aguie Lendor, vice president of Asonahores, highlighted that the focus of this year was to design personalized strategies for each tourist destination in the country, due to the fact that each region has completely different characteristics, needs, and publics.
“We analyzed what type of tourism should come to Santo Domingo, to Samaná, to Miches, to Pedernales, to Puerto Plata, to Santiago, to the East, and each one requires a different tourist, a different complementary offer, different tour operators. That’s why we work region by region”, explained Lendor.
The vice president also emphasized that the Dominican tourism industry has evolved beyond the traditional model of “sun and beach”, and today offers up to ten types of tourism, such as weddings, honeymoons, historical, sports, gastronomic, and high-end tourism.
“It’s a great pride that today we can talk about diverse tourism, with relevant markets and spaces for everyone”, she stated.
DATE 2025 managed to gather more than 800 delegates, 120 companies and 230 tour operators and travel agencies, from more than 15 countries. Over 8,000 business appointments were registered, a figure that consolidates the event as one of the most important tourism promotion platforms in the region.
“The mission has been accomplished. We have generated value, businesses, and real support for companies. It has been a pleasure serving you this year and we look forward to seeing you at the next DATE”, concluded Lendor.
