Licey maintained control of the game and emerged victorious with a 2‑0 score over the East Toros in a match held at the Francisco A. Micheli stadium, where a combined no‑hitter was recorded by the blue pitching staff. The Tigers’ director, Gilbert Gómez, noted that the combination of solid pitching, flawless defense, and timely hitting were the keys to the result.
The pitchers’ work
Gómez highlighted the performance of the pitchers who contributed to the no‑hitter. “The pitching staff demonstrated its quality, staying without allowing runs,” said the blue foreman. Emphasis was also placed on the participation of the newly debuted Luis Gil, who, under the manager’s supervision, was given a limit of 40 pitches. Despite the restriction, the pitcher left his mark on the field and showed solid performance.
Defense and hitting as pillars of the victory
The Tigers’ defense also played a decisive role. Adames’ defensive play was cited as a key moment that sealed the impossibility of the Toros scoring. “The fielding was impeccable and reinforced what was already solid pitching,” explained Gómez.
As for hitting, the blues managed to score the two runs needed to secure the win, taking advantage of the opportunities that arose and keeping pressure on the opponent’s offense.
Acknowledgment to management and the work plan
Gómez thanked Licey’s management for assembling the group of players and pitchers that has allowed the team to stay competitive at the start of the 2026‑27 season of the Dominican Professional Baseball League of the Dominican Republic (LIDOM). The combination of a well‑structured work plan and staff dedication has been fundamental to the club’s success.
