Santo Domingo.- A decrease in prices of flights from the capital of the Dominican Republic to Puerto Rico has been seen, coinciding with the introduction of a new route and the resumption of daily SKYhigh services to the island.
According to what was verified by Diario Libre, flights to San Juan, Puerto Rico, now vary between US$ 243 (14,580 pesos) and 390 dollars (23,400 pesos) in airlines such as Frontier and JetBlue. SKYhigh, on the other hand, offers tariffs that range from 149 (8,940) to 303 dollars (18,180 pesos), depending on the selected plan.
Previously, the cost of a flight between the Dominican capital and the Puerto Rican city could reach up to 400 dollars (24,000 pesos).
This decrease in air travel costs aligns with some adjustments in the programming of the Dominican aerolinea SKYhigh, including the inauguration of the air connection between Santo Domingo and Aguadilla in Puerto Rico, marking SKYhigh as the first local aerolinea to cover this destination on the west coast of the island.
Furthermore, the restoration of daily flights of the aerolinea between the International Airport of the Americas (AILA) and the International Luis Muñoz Marín Airport of Puerto Rico, starting from October 17th last year, has been announced.
The aerolinea operates in 23 destinations, connecting the Dominican Republic with the Caribbean, the United States, and Venezuela.
According to its website, the airline performs more than 32 flights weekly from and to the International Airport of the Americas, José Francisco Peña Gómez, the International Airport of the Cibao, and the International Airport of Punta Cana.
SKYhigh transported 92,323 passengers in the first seven months of the year 2024, according to the data presented by the Aviation Civil Board (JAC) at the end of July last year, which represents 15% of the total number of passengers moved by six national airlines in the same period, reaching a figure of 619,406.
