The country receives over 30 recognitions and will be the host of LAWA 2027 in Santo Domingo
Santo Domingo. — The Dominican Republic had a historic participation in the seventh edition of the Latin American Wedding & MICE Awards (LAWA) 2026, achieving over 30 recognitions that highlight the quality, creativity, and professionalism of the national tourism sector in the field of weddings and events.
The highlight of the night was for Pedro Vargas, President of Vargas Servicios de Catering & Eventos, who received the Grand Prize for Career for his outstanding work in the wedding and events industry in Latin America.
“Receiving this Grand Prize is an immense honor and a greater commitment. This recognition is for the entire human team and for each Dominican provider who every day elevates the name of our country. Thank you to their work, the Dominican Republic today is synonymous with unforgettable celebrations”, expressed Pedro Vargas.

Santo Domingo will be the host of LAWA 2027

After the success of the Dominican delegation, the LAWA organization announced that the Dominican Republic has been chosen as the official host of the Latin American Wedding & MICE Awards 2027, to be held in Santo Domingo.
“That the world comes to Santo Domingo in 2027 is the opportunity to show our hospitality, our infrastructure, and the talent we have. We will receive Latin America with open arms and with the quality that characterizes us”, added Vargas.
Economic impact
The tourism of weddings and MICE represents a key investment for the economy, dynamizing a wide network of providers: hotels, convention centers, restaurants, decorators, photographers, and creatives. With modern convention centers and a top-level hotel offer, the Dominican Republic is ready to receive large-scale events.
With these awards and the next host, the country reiterates its positioning as the leading destination in the Caribbean for celebrating love and doing business.
