In Santo Domingo, ANADIVE has stated that the allegations of undervaluation in the marketing of used vehicles and the supposed tax evasion do not have the backing of objective and independent studies, labeling them as “exaggerated and unfounded”.
Rejection of tax evasion figures
The organization pointed out that the figures disclosed about presumed tax evasion are not supported by reliable data and that there is no study to justify those claims.
Used and new vehicle market
ANADIVE explained that the Dominican Republic’s motor vehicle market is segmented, distinguishing between users of vehicles in good condition and buyers of new cars. The association emphasized that both groups must coexist without demonizing the used car market.
“In the US, a high-income society with a car culture sells more used vehicles than new ones every year”, ANADIVE stated.
2026 Import Data
According to the association, in the first eight months of 2026, 36,717 new vehicles were imported, 2,693 units more than in the same period of 2025. For used vehicles, the total was 58,709 units, an increase of 2,543 compared to 2025. In total, ANADIVE counted 95,426 new and used vehicles until August 2026, compared to 90,190 in the same period of the previous year. New vehicles represented 38.5% of the total and used vehicles 61.5%, equivalent to approximately two new for every three used.
