In a coordinated effort, the Alcaldía del Distrito Nacional, the Ministerio de Interior y Policía, the Ministerio de Medio Ambiente, the Concejo de Regidores, the Servicio Nacional de Protección Ambiental (SENPA) and the Procuraduría Especializada de Medio Ambiente carried out a metal vendors notification operation in Villa Consuelo. This action arises from the citizen and gender safety table, with the goal of censusing these businesses, educating operators and reclaiming invaded public spaces.
Census details and notifications in the area
Lieutenant Colonel José Aníbal Sanz Melo, director of the Office of Advocacy and Use of Public Spaces (DUEP), led the instructions to notify each metal vendor in the initial perimeter. “We are here to conduct a survey of all the metal vendors operating in this sector,” the officer explained during the tour.
Councilor José Eddy Otaño emphasized the educational approach: “We have come to verify, census all the metal vendors and adjust them through the law, as a means of guidance, not repression.” The team included inspectors from SENPA, representatives from Interior and the National Police.
