The financial aid delivered to Manoguayabo merchants seeks to compensate for the temporary impact of the expansion of Los Beisbolistas Avenue, a road project that affected the normal flow of business in Santo Domingo Oeste. The measure reached some 75 beneficiaries and was presented as compliance with a commitment made by President Luis Abinader.
Delivery was led by the Directorate of Strategic and Special Projects of the Presidency (Propeep) and the National Council for Presidential Management, with support from the National Treasury and the General Comptroller’s Office to supervise the process. As reported, each disbursement was made individually, after validating the identity of the beneficiaries and the list approved by the Presidency.
Robert Polanco, director of Propeep, maintained that the financial aid responds to a social accompaniment policy to cushion the effects of projects that, although necessary, usually generate temporary losses in commercial areas. Digna Reynoso, director of Presidential Management, said that a detailed survey of those affected was carried out prior to the delivery.

Authorities insisted that personal verification and institutional supervision seek to reduce risks of duplication or irregular handling. In Manoguayabo, merchants consulted by the organization appreciated the support received and noted that it will allow them to resume operations with greater stability. Carlos Noel Méndez, president of the Association of Merchants, stated that the aid arrives after losses caused by the intervention of the road. Arelis María Morillo, secretary of the union, also thanked that they were included in the process.
