The Giants of the Cibao, team of San Francisco de Macorís, have announced the hiring of the American right-hander Jackson Goddard as an imported player for the 2026-27 campaign of the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM). The 29-year-old pitcher arrives at the club with a track record that includes his performance as a starter in the Mexican Baseball League and in the Minor Leagues of the United States.
Goddard composed a record of 4-2 and an effectiveness of 4.20 in 83.2 entries during 17 openings with the Monclova Acereros in 2026. In 2025, in four games with the same team, he showed a solid performance with 2-0 and an effectiveness of 1.56, accumulating 19 strikeouts in 17.1 episodes.
The Goddard launch dates back to 2018, when he was selected by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the third round of the MLB Draft, after his passage through the University of Kansas. In four seasons in the Minor Leagues, he registered 9-9 and an effectiveness of 3.76 in 79 games, including 34 openings, and reached the Double A level with 176 strikeouts in 179.1 entries.
Integration to the Giants’ roster
With his arrival, Goddard becomes the fourth imported player announced by the team for the next campaign. He joins the initialist Jake Holton and the left-handed pitchers Adam Seminaris and Jared Wetherbee, reinforcing the depth and stability of the Giants of the Cibao rotation.
Prospects for the season
The Giants expect to compete for the Dominican winter ball title. The team will debut on October 16 by receiving the Cibaeñas Eagles at the Julián Javier Stadium in San Francisco de Macorís.
