MEXICO.- Robinson Cano will not return with the Red Devils of Mexico for the next season of the Mexican Baseball League (MBL), after achieving the double championship with the red team.
The Dominican player confirmed, in an exclusive interview with ESPN, that he does not contemplate a third campaign in the Mexican capital, at least for now.
Cano closed his passage through the MBL with two league titles and a recognition as Most Valuable Player. In the 2025 season, he played 85 games, registering a batting average of .372, with 14 home runs, 86 runs batted in, 32 doubles, an on-base percentage (OBP) of .426, and an OPS of .999.
“Reality, no. They laugh (his teammates) because they say I’m coming back. One is big, time. But right now, I don’t think so. I feel happy and grateful for the treatment, to the fans, wherever I go I feel like home. That’s the goal so far”, said Cano in the SportsCenter program.
The announcement took his teammates by surprise. Juan Carlos Gamboa, captain of the Red Devils, acknowledged that Cano’s departure represents an important loss for the team and assured that he will be missed.
