‘Red Dead Redemption’ arrives on PC after 14 years

· 3 min de lectura

It has been confirmed: Red Dead Redemption finally launches its PC version and will be available from this month. Rockstar Games made the announcement that their acclaimed game will finally expand to computers, fulfilling a long-standing request from fans.

Those who want to play Red Dead Redemption on their computer will only have to wait a few more weeks. The game will be available on Steam, Epic Games Store and Rockstar Store from October 29th. Throughout this week, it will be revealed from when it can be pre-ordered on the different platforms.

It is worth noting that this version will not only include the base game, but also the downloadable content Undead Nightmare, which combines the western genre with a zombie apocalypse. What has not been revealed yet is the price that Red Dead Redemption will have for PC. Rockstar may want to avoid a controversy similar to the one that occurred in 2023, when the versions for PS4 and Nintendo Switch were announced.

On that occasion, the company faced severe criticism for setting the price at $49.99 for ports that practically did not present improvements compared to the versions launched for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2010. From Take-Two Interactive, they justified arguing that it was a reasonable price, given that Undead Nightmare had been launched originally as an independent game from the main series.

It remains to be seen if the story will repeat itself with the PC version of Red Dead Redemption. This mystery will be resolved in a few days.

Like the versions for PS4 and Nintendo Switch, Double Eleven has been in charge of developing the PC version of Red Dead Redemption. Rockstar Games notes that the game will include several significant improvements specific to computers, especially in terms of graphics.

According to the studio, Red Dead Redemption for PC presents a native 4K resolution —and possibility of up to 144 Hz— on compatible screens, along with support for HDR10 technology. It is also compatible with 21:9 (Ultrawide) and 32:9 (Super Ultrawide) monitors.

As for graphics, Red Dead Redemption for PC benefits from some of the most advanced scaling and frame generation technologies currently available. This includes DLSS 3.7 and Frame Generation DLSS, both from NVIDIA; and FX Super Resolution 3.0 from AMD. Additionally, it offers the possibility of adjusting the quality of shadows, among many other similar configurations.
