The Public Ministry of the Dominican Republic stated that an economic conflict motivated the plan that ended with the death of merchant Andy Louissant, which occurred on September 10, 2026. The accused, José Antonio Martínez Joseph and Juan Gabriel Marte Ramírez, also known as “The Diamond”, are subject to a request for preventive detention.
Relationship of trust and pending debt
The Prosecutor’s Office maintains that Martínez Joseph maintained a close relationship with Louissant, but both had differences over an unpaid debt. According to the authorities, Martínez Joseph would have coordinated with Marte Ramírez a plan against the merchant.
Meeting and persecution
On September 10, Louissant called Martínez Joseph, and they agreed to meet at 8:00 p.m. at a shopping center on Luperón Avenue to discuss business matters. Louissant’s partner, Sarah Esther Paredes, stated that she overheard the conversation and knew of the economic differences between the two.
Louissant traveled in a rented jeep. Upon arrival, he was contacted by Marte Ramírez, who was driving a gray Honda Accord. The three headed to the Isabel Aguiar Avenue area, where a discussion took place. Shortly after, Martínez Joseph arrived in another vehicle and the three headed to a residence linked to the accused.
Technological evidence
After losing contact with Louissant, his partner contacted the jeep’s owner to request GPS tracking. The vehicle was located in Bellas Colinas de Manoguayabo. Security camera recordings captured part of the movements during the early morning of September 11. One of the images shows Louissant alongside the two accused. The document states that the merchant attempted to distance himself, but was caught and placed back in a vehicle.
The owner of the Honda Accord stated that he had rented the unit to Marte Ramírez and observed signs that caught his attention, requesting explanations from the driver.
Search and capture
On September 11, Martínez Joseph purchased construction materials. With that evidence, the authorities obtained a judicial order and conducted a search on September 14 at the Martínez Fashion Import establishment, located on Mexico Street, Buenos Aires sector, Herrera. In a recent concrete structure, under a staircase, investigators found Louissant. The location was placed under the authorities’ control for the collection of evidence.
Martínez Joseph was arrested on September 14, while Marte Ramírez was detained the following day by judicial order. The Judicial Office of Permanent Attention Services will evaluate the request for preventive detention on Friday.
