The Popular Bank of the Dominican Republic made an official delivery of two fire trucks to the Municipal District Board of La Guáyiga, in the framework of a public-private collaboration that seeks to strengthen the capacity to respond to fires and other emergencies in the Dominican community.
Delivery ceremony and participation of authorities
The ceremony was attended by the executive president of the bank, Christopher Paniagua, and the director of the Board, Mirtha Elena Pérez, along with local authorities, representatives of the fire department and community members. Also attending were the executive vice president of Corporate Communications, José Mármol, and the vice president of Corporate Relations, Mariel Bera.
Details of the donated vehicles
The trucks are of the International 4300 model, year 2019, manufactured in Miami, Florida. Each unit has a 2,500-gallon water tank, 450-gallon-per-minute pumps, two rear discharges, a 360-degree front cannon, operation and suction hoses, speakers and sirens.
The bank made a total investment of US$189,540 for the purchase of the two units.
Objective of the donation
The executive president of the Popular Bank indicated that the donation is part of the bank’s vision to contribute to the integral and sustainable development of Dominican communities. The initiative is part of the sustainability and social responsibility actions driven by the entity.
Impact on the La Guáyiga community
La Guáyiga, with a population of approximately 42,000 inhabitants distributed in more than 32 sectors, hosts around 150 industries. The donation of the fire trucks increases the operational capacity of the response organizations, responding to the growing demand for emergency services in the area.
During the ceremony, the treasurer of the Municipal District Board, Santiago Natanael Escaño, read a message prepared by Director Mirtha Elena Pérez, who thanked the donation and highlighted its importance for the safety and tranquility of the community.
The Mr. Vicente Reynoso, municipal vice director, delivered a recognition of appreciation to Christopher Paniagua on behalf of the community.
