Nintendo executives unveiled the latest console, the Nintendo Switch 2, priced at $450, which will be available for purchase starting June 5.
The company announced that among the first available games will be “Mario Kart World” and “Donkey Kong Bananza”, featuring innovations such as a microphone for interacting with other users, split-screen functionality, and the ability to attach a camera for live broadcasting or streaming. The system, called GameChat, will eventually be subscription-based and will include parental control options.
It was also indicated that the console will include acclaimed third‑party titles, integrating them into Nintendo’s universe, and announced must‑have exclusives such as “The Duskblood” from FromSoftware.
Mario Kart World will be available from June 5 and will support up to 24 players, offering off‑road exploration in an open‑world setting. Donkey Kong Bananza, meanwhile, will launch on July 17 and will be the first 3D adventure in the series since Donkey Kong 64 in 1999. Kirby Air Riders, a sequel to a cult classic from the GameCube era by Masahiro Sakurai, creator of Smash Bros, does not yet have a confirmed release date.
Additionally, the Switch 2 will feature a 20‑centimeter display with higher resolution and the ability to run games at 120 fps, ensuring a smoother gaming experience. It will have 256 GB of internal storage and will introduce adaptive controls with mouse functionality.
