The 9th of September, the Italian red aperitif Campari celebrated at the Arte San Ramón the launch of Negroni Week Dominican Republic 2026, marking the beginning of an edition that transforms the local competition and transfers it to the scenes of mixology. The initiative, driven by Imbibe and supported by Campari, is celebrated globally in its 14th edition and this year extends from the 21st to the 27th of September in bars and restaurants all over the world.

A global campaign with local impact

In 2025, almost 15,000 establishments from over 90 countries participated in Negroni Week, raising 700,000 USD for Slow Food. Throughout the last decade, the initiative has generated nearly 6 million dollars for charitable causes and strengthens the relationship between Campari, Imbibe, bartenders, and Negroni lovers.

The Dominican edition and its new format

In the Dominican Republic, the event was designed to bring the competition closer to the public. The proposal, inspired by the global spirit of Negroni Week 2026, celebrates the power of storytelling through mixology and invites bartenders and consumers to create new stories around the iconic red heart of the Negroni.

After the national call “The Negroni Call”, 12 bartenders were selected to compete during September in four “Match Days”. Each day produces a winner, who will advance to the quartet finalists that will compete in the Grand Final on the 23rd of September for the title of Negroni Week Dominican Republic 2026.

The Negroni, the best-selling cocktail

According to the Drinks International Cocktail Report 2026, the Negroni remains the classic #1 best-selling cocktail in the world’s top bars. The International Bartenders Association (IBA) recognizes Campari as the official ingredient of the Negroni, highlighting the relationship that has accompanied the cocktail since its origin.

Charitable purpose and support for hospitality

Negroni Week was born with a charitable purpose that remains central. The Slow Food Negroni Week Fund continues to support the global hospitality community through educational scholarships, the Negroni Week Innovation Award, and the Slow Food Exchanges, which connect professionals with producers and communities to generate learning and exchange.
