International Dominican literature will meet international letters during the 28th International Book Fair of Santo Domingo (Filsd 2026), which this year will feature the participation of more than 70 writers from different countries. The event, which will take place from September 23 to October 4 in the Plaza de la Cultura Juan Pablo Duarte, will also feature the presence of fair and literary festival directors, publishers and representatives of the book sector.
The Minister of Culture, Roberto Ángel Salcedo, highlighted the purpose of expanding the international dimension of the fair and converting it into a space for exchange between writers, readers, publishers and cultural managers. During the days of the event, more than 600 activities will be developed, including book presentations, conferences, workshops, meetings with authors, cinematographic proposals, music and activities directed at the infant and juvenile public.
Filsd 2026 and its honored author
The Dominican writer José Mármol will be the honored author of this edition. As part of the recognition, the National Editor will put into circulation three of his works: Sculpting the Fog, Metaphors of Time and Impossible Writing. In total, during the fair, 23 new titles will be presented, as part of the editorial programming prepared for this edition.
Panama, honored guest country
One of the main attractions of the FILSD 2026 will be the participation of Panama as the honored guest country, with a delegation made up of more than 35 writers and representatives of different artistic disciplines, including music, dance and theater. The Panamanian presence seeks to expand the cultural exchange between both countries and offer the Dominican public a look at the literary and artistic production of that nation.
Program and participants
32 international publishers, 21 national publishers and 44 Dominican bookstores will be added to the program, in addition to specialized pavilions and new projects linked to the editorial world. With this edition, the Ministry of Culture bets on reinforcing the international character of the Book Fair and positioning it as a meeting point for literature, thought and the different expressions of cultural creation in Iberoamerica.
