With over 600,000 daily bike trips, the demand for safe bike parking spots has grown exponentially. Rodriguez noted that the city already has a record number of protected bike lanes, but the lack of secure spaces to store bikes remains a major obstacle for many New Yorkers.
The safe bike parking spot network will be operated by Tranzito, the city’s leading provider. The five-year contract will include the installation of enclosed and outdoor units, both high and low capacity, tailored to user needs.
