Victor Gomez, 28-year-old Dominican athlete, achieved the best time among participants from his country in Hyrox Washington D.C. with a record of 1 hour, 4 minutes and 9 seconds. Gomez, founder and CEO of THE CAVE gym, competed in the Pro Men category, the highest division of the competition, where he tested his endurance, strength and ability to maintain a high performance under accumulated fatigue conditions.
Hyrox: The fitness race
Hyrox is a global indoor fitness competition that combines eight kilometers of running with eight functional exercise stations. Known as “the fitness race” due to its characteristics, it requires participants to combine aerobic endurance, muscular strength and recovery capacity.
The competition
The competition takes place at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, under a standardized format that is maintained in different locations around the world, allowing for the establishment of classifications and rankings among participants. In addition to the individual categories Open and Pro, Hyrox also features team and relay modalities, expanding participation possibilities for athletes with different levels of preparation and physical condition.
