In a demonstration of absolute dominance, the Estrellas de Herrera team won in two consecutive occasions against the Yamasá squad during the start of the final series of the Viejas Glorias 2025 National Tournament. The matches were held at the Edinson Vólquez Sports Complex, located in Nigua, San Cristóbal.
The series, agreed to the best of five games (5-3), will now be transferred to Yamasá, where the local team is forced to win all the remaining games if they want to keep their title aspirations alive.
This is the 45th edition of the Viejas Glorias National Tournament, a high-level competition that has maintained its prestige over the years. In 2025, the tournament is dedicated to the current Minister of Sports, Kelvin Cruz, and has counted on great family and community support, consolidating its social and sports value.
Raúl Bonilla, president of the Permanent Committee of Viejas Glorias National, expressed his gratitude to the participating teams: “We thank the teams and players for exhibiting a great competitive level and adhering to the tournament regulations”.
THE LEGACY OF HERRERA AND ITS DYNASTY
The Herrera team continues to forge a dynasty within the veteran baseball of the Dominican Republic. Under the direction of the legendary Eugenio Rodríguez (Genito), deceased this year, the team has achieved 23 district championships in the last 26 disputed, and has raised the national title in 20 occasions.
In addition, Herrera has transcended borders by conquering the silver crown in the prestigious Roy Hobbs World Series baseball tournament for veterans, held in Fort Myers, Florida, United States, among other international achievements that consolidate its legacy.
