The Metropolitan Transport Company (EMT) announced that, starting this Tuesday, passengers will be able to travel free of charge on two segments of Line 2 of the Santo Domingo Metro. The free sections cover the area between the Pablo Adón Guzmán and Pedro Bonó stations, and between Ramón Cáceres and Concepción Bona, while the fault affecting the Traction Substation SET‑13 is being addressed.
Origin of the interruption
The failure originated at the Traction Substation SET‑13, which supplies the power needed for train operation. EMT has not yet determined the specific cause, although it cautiously rules out possible scenarios such as overload, short circuit, or equipment failure.
Mitigation measures
According to the company, the free segments will remain active until technical staff complete the repairs and restore regular operation of Line 2. “The purpose is to reduce the mobility difficulties that passengers may face during the disruption and to provide an alternative to facilitate their travel,” EMT explained.
