The communicator Amelia Alcántara left the first anniversary celebration of “Game of Queens” in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, after showing herself to be dissatisfied with the table assigned to her during the event. Alcántara explained that she expected to be placed at a table in the front, but was placed next to Luinny Corporán and Lelenco in a space more towards the back. The communicator considered that the location did not correspond to the treatment she understood she deserved as a public figure and decided to withdraw from the activity.
“One has to give oneself respect,” expressed Alcántara in explaining the reasons that led her to leave. According to Amelia, her annoyance increased when she observed that other people were located in front, despite the fact that, according to her version, they had not provided the same support to Isaura Taveras’ projects. “I have to be respected,” the communicator declared, who insisted that she expected a different position within the activity.
Isaura Taveras responds
Isaura Taveras initially assured that she did not know if Amelia had faced any other situation and said she hoped that any inconvenience could be solved. She explained that she had invited with affection to the program from which she is part Alcántara, as a thank you for the support received to promote her different projects. Taveras maintained that the intention of the activity was to celebrate the anniversary of “Game of Queens” and share with the women and guests present.
“The one who does not feel in tune with what is happening here and with the type of people who are here, well, that will be a situation that will have to be resolved at home,” expressed Taveras. Later she added: “This is not a school, this is an event for adult people”. Isaura also defended her way of expressing herself, rejecting that she be considered simply a person of “karate language”.
The presenter stated that she has been working in the media for more than 20 years and defended her right to express and defend her positions. “I am a prepared woman who understood that in the media the one who does not have the interest of defending their thought and saying things as they are […] will be passed over,” she sustained.
The episode occurred during the first anniversary of “Game of Queens”. Amelia made it clear that her departure was related to the location she received, while Isaura defended that it was a celebration among adults and that any dissatisfaction should be managed personally.
