Amazon has revamped its complete range of Kindle e-readers, introducing slimmer models, longer-lasting batteries, and aluminum casing options along with new colors. The update comes with 1-millimeter thickness changes in each unit, a 30% faster book opening, and the relocation of the power button from the bottom edge to the right side, near the top edge.
Basic Kindle: price, colors, and aluminum options
The entry-level Kindle, available from $149.99, offers 16 GB of storage and ads on the lock screen. It comes in two finishes: ube (purple) and graphite, with a uniform transition between frame and screen. The aluminum variant, costing $189.99, doubles the storage capacity to 32 GB, removes ads, and eliminates the soft plastic layer. With the magnetic folio case, the set reaches $239.98.
Paperwhite and Colorsoft: keeping the screen, changing the color
The Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle Colorsoft retain their screen specifications, but now come with new color options that cover the entire reader. The change responds to a black layer that prevents color transparency on the screen. Both models will be available from October 28 and can be pre-ordered.
Signature editions and accessories
The aluminum versions of Paperwhite and Colorsoft, priced at $249.99 and $319.99 respectively, include Pogo pins on the back for a $79.99 magnetic case. These editions do not support wireless charging; instead, Amazon offers a $59.99 charging base that allows charging the device in a vertical position using the Pogo pins. The new Kindle Click, a $34.99 Bluetooth remote control, allows page turning, brightness adjustment, and comes with soft and silent buttons, as well as a wrist strap and USB-C charging. It is compatible with Kindle models launched since 2024.
