Sports Desk.- The New York Mets triumphed over the Philadelphia Phillies with a score of 7-2 this Tuesday, positioning them one win away from advancing in the National League Division Series.
The significant victory was orchestrated by Pete Alonso with a home run, along with the Dominican Starling Marte and Cuban José Iglesias, who each drove in two runs, and the flawless pitching performance by left-hander Sean Manaea.
The Mets (2-1), playing their first postseason game at Citi Field since 2022, have the chance to secure their ticket in advance this Wednesday.

Aaron Nola (0-1), chosen by Rob Thomson to start the game, exited after five innings, having surrendered two home runs and four runs, despite striking out eight.

Alonso scored the Mets’ first run in the second inning with a home run to right field. It was his second in the series against the Phillies and his fourth in the postseason.
In the lower half of the fourth inning, Jesse Winker drove in the second run for the Mets with a home run.
The Mets added two more runs in the sixth inning, after two outs and runners on all bases, Marte hit a single to center field, driving Brandon Nimmo and Pete Alonso home.
In the seventh inning, Iglesias took to the batter’s box and, with two outs, hit a single that brought Harrison Bader and Nimmo in to score.
The Phillies only managed to respond in the eighth inning. Bryce Harper hit a right-field single that produced a run, followed by Cuban Nick Castellanos with singles to left field.
Puerto Rican Francisco Lindor sealed the victory for the Mets with a double that drove in a run in the ninth inning.
For the Mets, Iglesias and Marte each drove in two runs, and Lindor produced one run.
For the Phillies, Panamanian Edmundo Sosa scored a run.
