DR is a very rich nation, both in culture and in values. From the tourism, human and any other sector point of view, there are many reasons to proudly say I am Dominican!
Did you know there are beautiful beaches? Not to mention the pleasant climate at any time of the year. And when it comes to tourism, the history of this country has a lot to do with the cultural richness of its lands. If you are Dominican you know what I mean, since our identity is in our blood, and our sense of belonging is incomparable.

Just in this introduction you can already notice that the riches are many, not to mention gastronomy, music and other traditions. If you visit our land, you are going to love it as much as we do. But without further ado let’s talk about our top 10 reasons to feel proud to be Dominican.
1. The beautiful Dominican beaches and their nature
Do you know the Dominican beaches? You have to know them, they are considered the most beautiful in the world, plus there is a lot of variety. Many prefer those of Punta Cana, others do not want to leave the waters of Bávaro, it’s a matter of taste.
It is a paradise with white sands, turquoise water and a wide variety of services that make you comfortably enjoy the environment.
As if that weren’t enough, we can say that we have the popular Pico Duarte, and other natural environments like Lake Enriquillo. Here you will find jungles, deserts and much more variety.

2. Its people are our pride
Dominican Republic, without Dominicans would be incomplete. It’s not a matter of logic, but rather that Dominicans are truly very hospitable and affectionate people. You will always find someone willing to help you and offer good treatment.
And if we talk about good treatment among Dominicans, it also reflects solidarity as a strong value of their society. We can say with certainty that in DR a neighbor is never left alone.
3. Music, dance and parties
Surely you have enjoyed and danced to our music, I mean bachata and merengue which play in all parts of the world. By the way, they are officially Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, as indicated by UNESCO.
4. Exquisite gastronomy as Dominican pride
We mentioned gastronomy before, it is the best of this country for food lovers:
- Salami.
- Egg.
- Fried cheese.
- Sancocho… And much more!
5. Our national sentiment
Among the reasons to feel proud to be Dominican we have to mention the patriotic feeling. There are many Dominicans who feel an attachment to their history, and of course, their independence as a nation. Every February 27th you can verify this on Independence Day, when all citizens passionately demonstrate their Dominican identity.

6. Positive attitude and Dominican ingenuity
There is a very common phrase that says “El dominicano resuelve” (The Dominican figures it out). And the fact is that we always see everything with good eyes, and if there is something bad, we look to solve it! You could say that we are resourceful and the solution to many problems. We certainly improvise in many things, but it is a virtue in times of unforeseen events.
And taking advantage of the fact that we referenced “El dominicano resuelve”, we must say that we feel proud of our colloquial language: vaina, cherca, and much more.
7. Dominican pride and our athletes
If we talk about baseball, we feel proud of our representations in the Caribbean Series, and of figures like David Ortiz, Pedro Martínez who are recognized major leaguers. But there is much more talent, we are the cradle of many stars.
