New York.- The American company OpenAI announced that its artificial intelligence chatbot has nearly fully recovered after experiencing operational issues.
“We are almost fully reconnected now, thank you for your patience!” the company posted tonight on its X account.
The company reported at 9:00 PM local time (2:00 AM GMT) on its website that the chatbot (a computer program that can maintain a conversation) was “almost recovered” and that it was continuing to work towards “a global solution.”
OpenAI admitted today through its own service that it was experiencing a high rate of errors it was attempting to resolve.
The American company stated it has identified the source of the failures, which also affect Sora (a text-based video generator), and is evaluating them.
According to OpenAI, the issue was caused by an external provider.
Throughout the afternoon, the company updated that the technical errors with Sora had been resolved, but by 10:00 PM New York time (3:00 AM GMT), its famous ‘chatbot’ was still not functioning normally.
This afternoon, users of ChatGPT started reporting issues with the service, according to submissions to the Downdetector app.
When attempting to use ChatGPT from Spain, the ‘chatbot’ did not answer the query and reported that something was going wrong.
“If this problem persists, please contact us through our help center at help.openai.com,” the message added.
This is not the first time ChatGPT has experienced technical difficulties, and in recent months, the ‘chatbot’ has stopped working for hours on a couple of occasions.
The service became popular at the end of 2023 for its multiple functionalities and for answering all kinds of questions.
ChatGPT has 300 million active users per week. Through its platform, 1,000 million messages are sent each day, according to OpenAI data.
