Nicolás Mateo, renowned writer and journalist, along with Editorial Santuario, announce the launch of the poetry collection “Aliento de canela y sal”, which will take place on Tuesday, September 3 at 6:30 pm, in the Aída Cartagena Portalatín room of the Pedro Henríquez Ureña National Library.
Presented by the talented musician and author César Namnum, this compendium brings together the work of 18 prominent contemporary poets from San Juan, showcasing a representative selection of their most significant poems to offer a clear perspective of the literary excellence of each author’s texts.
The objective of this compilation, “Aliento de canela y sal”, is to disseminate and elevate the poetic production of current literary figures from the province of San Juan, leaving to future generations of the south and the entire country a collection of the poetic work of this generation of writers from said area.
César Sánchez Beras points out regarding the work that it gathers a diverse, polyphonic, and thematically varied set with universal scope, deeply rooted in the local identity of a small province.
This publication achieves an extraordinary meeting of essayists, poets, meta-poets, cultural promoters, novelists, educators, officials, engineers, journalists, short story writers, philosophers, anthropologists, researchers, decimists, clerics, critics, doctors, narrators, lawyers, sociologists, and musicians.
Sánchez Beras adds that San Juan and the south as a whole manifest themselves through the voice of their poets, with verses that go beyond the personal to reach a universal dimension. The collection captures the plurality of the human experience, from introspection to the connection with the world and the inquiry into the transcendental.
“Including these poets in the anthology “Aliento de Canela y Sal” is a cultural event worthy of commemoration, not only if each one had published their works individually and anonymously, but the launch of this comprehensive, diverse, plural, and decisive anthology represents a linguistic milestone and an event of great importance at the provincial level,” highlighted the acclaimed author.
