Santo Domingo.– The teams of Yamasá, Cangrejeros de Haina, and Estrellas de Herrera became the first qualifiers for the Round Robin of the 2025 Viejas Glorias National Tournament, after winning their respective divisional series.
The squads of Yamasá and Unidos de San Pedro played out one of the most exciting series of the tournament, in “heart-stopping” matches where Yamasá came out on top.
They won the first clash by the minimum margin, 1 run to 0, and in the second, they managed a 6-2 victory in extra innings, securing their ticket to the next round as an undefeated team.
In another matchup, the Cangrejeros de Haina defeated the fierce team of El Pinal de Ocoa. In the first encounter, they won 1-0 in a tight game, and in the second, they prevailed 11-5, dashing the hopes of the Ocoeños to advance to the next stage.
The Estrellas de Herrera, current tournament champions, continued their dominance by defeating the debutants SOLPIN in two consecutive games.
In the first game, they won 6-2 with a crushing offense in the sixth inning, taking advantage of the rival’s defensive errors. In the second, they sealed their qualification with a resounding 13-3 victory, consolidating their twentieth city championship.
The Cibao region will continue next week with the matchups between Moca and San Francisco de Macorís, which will define the team that will represent the north in the Round Robin.

Last Sunday, June 15, the divisional series of the 2025 Viejas Glorias National Tournament began, dedicated to Larimar City from Punta Cana, Sports Minister Kelvin Cruz, and Eugenio Rodríguez (in memoriam).
In the Southern region, El Pinal de Ocoa and Cangrejeros de Haina faced each other in an intense battle for qualification.
In the East, Unidos de San Pedro fought for their ticket against the Yamasá machine, which prevailed undefeated.
In Greater Santo Domingo, SOLPIN, in their first qualifying participation, fell to the tournament’s most decorated team, Estrellas de Herrera.
