Microsoft has recently launched the Xbox Game Pass Standard, the latest package of its subscription service. This was first presented in July as the official replacement for Game Pass for Console, and after a short trial period, it is now accessible to those interested in acquiring it from today.
Xbox Game Pass Standard stands out for including an extensive catalog of games, as well as all the benefits of Game Pass Core. This includes exclusive offers and discounts for members, as well as enabling access to online multiplayer gaming through the Xbox console.
This option profiles as the middle alternative for users who seek more than what Game Pass Core offers but without reaching the cost of Game Pass Ultimate, the most premium option. However, it is essential to note that the subscription to Game Pass Standard does not include access to games from their launch day nor does it have Xbox Cloud Gaming, reserved exclusively for Ultimate subscribers.
This implies that to play the latest games, such as Black Ops 6 just at launch, it will not be possible with Game Pass Standard. Access from the first day to titles like the new Call of Duty is only available through PC Game Pass or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
Remember that new titles may take a long time to be added to the Game Pass Standard catalog. According to what Microsoft has stated in the FAQs of the new subscription, the waiting period can exceed a year, varying from game to game.
“Certain games available on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate from the day of their launch may not be immediately available on Xbox Game Pass Standard and may be added to the catalog at a later date. This wait could extend up to 12 months or more, depending on the particular game”.

How much does the new Xbox Game Pass Standard cost?

Those interested in subscribing to Game Pass Standard to play from their Xbox consoles can already do so. In the United States, the plan has a monthly price of $14.99, although this varies depending on the local market.
In Spain, the cost is €12.99 per month, which almost doubles what is offered by Game Pass Core (€6.99) and is €5 less than Game Pass Ultimate, which costs €17.99. In Mexico, the monthly price is MXN 219, compared to the MXN 169 of Game Pass Core and the MXN 299 of Game Pass Ultimate. Meanwhile, in Argentina, the price is ARS 8,999 per month, plus applicable taxes for credit card charges in dollars. This price is between Game Pass Core (ARS 5,999 plus taxes) and Game Pass Ultimate (ARS 10,999 plus taxes).
Xbox Game Pass Standard arrives to directly replace Game Pass for Console, a service that has been unavailable to new customers since last July. However, those who acquired it before it was discontinued can continue using it without problems, as long as they maintain automatic renewal with their usual payment method.
It is relevant to mention that the availability of Game Pass for Console will not be perpetual. Microsoft will allow current subscribers to remain on this plan for a maximum period of 13 months, starting from next Wednesday, September 18.
