Confirmation by the US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, was given this Friday regarding the Dominican Republic becoming the most prominent economy in the Caribbean and placing it among the largest growing economies in Latin America. He highlighted the mutual collaboration between both countries to promote greater growth and expand inclusive opportunities for their citizens.
In addition, he made mention of the recent open skies agreement between the two nations, which will promote an increase in commercial flights, thus driving trade, tourism, and job creation.
Concluding his bilateral meeting with the President of the Dominican Republic, Luis Abinader, at the National Palace, the Dominican government’s headquarters, they gave a press conference where they highlighted that the relations between both countries are at one of their most critical historical points.
The US Secretary announced the start of a joint project between three universities in the Dominican Republic and the United States to prepare Dominican students in the semiconductor industry, as well as the first stage of an investment in the supply chain by Usaid, valued at $3 million to support the Dominican government in improving labor training, construction of industrial parks, and promoting investment in advanced technologies in the country.
