Raúl Germán Bautista.- The official portal of the Major Leagues, MLB.com, published a short list of players who should be the new attractions of the T-Mobile Home Run Derby 2025.
Among the selected are Elly de la Cruz (Cincinnati Reds), Junior Caminero, Oneil Cruz, Cal Raleigh, Jac Caglianone and James Wood.
The numbers support the choice of these players. Elly de la Cruz has 16 home runs this season, Caminero 17, Oneil Cruz 13, and Raleigh leads the list with 28, setting a record for receivers before the All-Star Game.
For his part, Caglianone has connected 2 in just 55 turns, and James Wood has recorded 20 home runs.
Justification of the list by MLB.com: “We are less than a month away from the T-Mobile Home Run Derby of 2025, scheduled for July 14 at Truist Park in Atlanta, and that means it’s time to start dreaming about the bombers who will participate in the popular home run competition. To do this, we asked six writers – three from MLB.com and three from Yahoo Sports – to select a possible debutant in the Home Run Festival that they would like to see at the event next month. Here are their choices and reasons,” says the MLB.com publication.
This year’s Derby not only generates excitement for the power at the plate, but also for the fresh air and youth that these new talents could bring. The inclusion of names like Elly, Junior and Oneil would represent a renewal that many fans have been waiting for.
