The Dominican Republic sextet swept Chile 3 sets to 0 at the start of the women’s volleyball tournament held at the COP Arena as part of the II Junior Pan American Games taking place in this city.
The partial scores ended 25-21, 25-15, and 25-18 in favor of the Quisqueyan team, which only had to work hard in the first set, while the following two were routine. The match lasted 22:28.
Alondra Tapia led the attack for the Dominican team with 11 points, followed by Katielle Alonzo and Florangel Terrero with 9 points each, while Crismeily Paniagua finished with six units.
For Chile, Florencia Aguilera scored eight points, followed by Florencia Giglio with five points, while Javiera Núñez, Savka Rendic, and Esperanza Bazualto achieved four units each.
The Dominican sextet dominated 11-5 in blocking, as well as in attacks with 27-22, while reception was tied 17-17 for both teams, as well as 22-22 in opponent errors.
The Dominican Republic will play Mexico this Monday in the second match of the women’s volleyball preliminary round at 11:00 in the morning (10:00 am, DR time) at the COP Arena.
