On Friday, September 18, the Cristo Salvador cemetery in Santo Domingo received the remains of Michael Junior Rodríguez Peguero, known as “Michael Peluche”, under a security device without precedents. The National Police and military personnel maintained vigilance at the entrance and in several points of the cemetery, while relatives were unable to attend the ceremony.

Police deployment before and during the burial

According to local information, the presence of agents began before the ceremony and was maintained throughout the process. Controls were carried out on people who attended the wake at the Paz en el Cielo funeral home in Los Mina, and an incident occurred inside the establishment that prompted police intervention.

Origin of Michael Peluche’s death

On September 16, Rodríguez Peguero lost his life along with a man known as “Enger” during an intervention by the Central Investigation Directorate (DICRIM) in the La Arboleda residential complex in Santo Domingo Norte. The National Police stated that both men were being sought on judicial orders and that, when attempting to be detained, they fired at the authorities.

Investigation into links with other crimes

The authorities investigated the alleged link of Rodríguez Peguero with an incident in the Los Coquitos sector, Boca Chica, on September 12, where Jesús Alexis Delgado Ortiz, alias “Diddy Glow”, and Johnathan Villanueva, alias “Cotuí”, died. Five people were affected. The investigations remain open to determine the circumstances of the case and the participation of those involved.

Lack of official explanation for security and family absence

Until midday, the authorities had not provided a public reason for the intense deployment of agents or for preventing the presence of Michael Peluche’s relatives at the burial.
