Lorenzo flirtea con la perfección en París 2024

Eduardo José Lorenzo, from Dominican Republic, was just two errors away from achieving a flawless performance on the inaugural day of the Skeet Event at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Lorenzo impressed by hitting 73 of the 75 targets during the first three phases, placing him in a tie for third place with Croatian Cernogoraz and Moroccan competitor Haffari.

In his second Olympic appearance, Lorenzo missed the second and fifteenth targets in the initial round. However, his precision was such that he managed to hit 60 consecutive targets afterwards, achieving a perfect round in the last two phases of the day.

This day was memorable for Lorenzo not only for his athletic achievements but also for the emotional support provided by his wife Judith Jiménez, who traveled to France on her own, as reported by José Mera, president of the Dominican Federation of Clay Pigeon Shooting and treasurer of the Dominican Olympic Committee.

The Dominican shooter will seek to remain among the top six tomorrow Tuesday to ensure his advancement to the final.

The definition of who will advance to the final stage for medals will be carried out in the fourth and fifth preliminary rounds, starting at 3:00 a.m. (Dominican Republic time) at the Chateauroux Shooting Center.

These rounds will consist of 25 targets each, whose results will be added to those of the first day to determine the six finalists.

Mera commented in a telephone interview with El Nacional that in case of ties, a sudden death tiebreaker will be used, in accordance with the established rules.

Psychological focus
For Lorenzo, it is crucial to maintain a focused mental state, which is why Mera emphasized that a plan of psychological support for the 57-year-old athlete is already underway.

He highlighted the importance of controlling emotions in competitions of this kind, highlighting the emotional management that Lorenzo has demonstrated.

“Lorenzo is an athlete who trains constantly and whose experience will be of great advantage,” Mera mentioned.

José Mera, president of the Dominican Federation of Clay Pigeon Shooting.

Lorenzo, who finished in 20th place in the 2016 Rio Olympics, demonstrates his commitment to the sport by making four weekly trips from Santiago to Santo Domingo to train, maintaining the legacy of his father, Domingo Lorenzo Conde.

Eduardo José achieved his qualification for Paris 2024 at the Americas Championship, becoming one of the five American representatives in this Olympic discipline.

Within his career, Lorenzo has won nine medals in Central American and Caribbean Games.
