In Santo Domingo Este, the lawyer Cándido Simó, legal representative of the merengue singer Gilberto Julián Sarante Perdomo, known as Julian Oro Duro, stated that the artist’s family remains united during the judicial process derived from the incident that occurred on September 20 in his Brisa Orienta VI sector residence.

The jurist appeared the next day in the corridors of the Judicial City of Santo Domingo Este, before the hearing of the request for coercive measures against four people identified by the authorities. Simó stated that the presence of the singer along with his daughters in the judicial seat serves as a message to those, according to his account, who would try to generate divisions within the artist’s family environment.

Statements from the lawyer

“Julian is here and his daughters are also here. They know who this is directed at; those who wanted to promote and finance the divergence between the family”, expressed Simó. The lawyer warned that the accused of extortion, defamation, and propaganda in social networks can be persecuted by the Penal Code in the concept of extortionate defamation, with penalties of up to ten years in prison.

Heating and charges

During the hearing, the following accused appeared before the court: Lawrence Mark Liranzo Marcos, nicknamed “Chiquito”; Kevin Dariel Germán Troncoso, alias “Yandel”; Juan Carlos Hernández García, known as “Peña”; and Phillips Michael Tejeda Vásquez, alias “Leandro”.

The accusation of the Public Ministry links them to the investigated case related to the assault on the interpreter’s residence. They are attributed with charges of association of malefactors, aggravated robbery, and a crime related to the person who lost their life during the incident. The investigation indicates that Julian was injured and his wife, Zeneida Castillo, died.

Coercive measures

The legal representation of the artist’s family adhered to the Public Ministry’s request for the four accused to remain under preventive detention as a coercive measure while the judicial process advances. It is expected that the judge of the Judicial Office of Services of Permanent Attention in Santo Domingo Este will issue a decision on the requested measures in the coming hours.
