Recently, Sony combined good and bad news by revealing the PS5 Pro. The conference was going well, showing a significant advance in graphics performance, innovative ray tracing technology, and the promise of improving current games for the ‘pro’ edition. However, the smile faded with the revelation of the price in one of the last slides of the presentation, set at 799 euros for the console.
Little later, the networks erupted with comments from users showing their discontent with the price, which not only considered exorbitant but also did not include the entire purchase. If you missed the announcement, here we inform you: the PS5 Pro does not come with vertical support or a disc reader.
These components are sold separately as accessories, which means that if you want to complete your experience, you have to pay extra. Of course, you can opt not to acquire them and enjoy the PS5 Pro in its digital version and in horizontal position, but thus, it would lack that ‘professional’ touch that its name suggests.
If you want the complete package, which includes the PS5 Pro, the stand, and the disc reader, the total sum approaches 1,000 euros. Sony has positioned this package at the same price level as the new iPhone 16 from Apple.

950 euros is the cost of a fully equipped PS5 Pro
Unlike the gradual approach of increasing prices adopted by mobile brands that eventually exceeded 1,000 euros, Sony has increased its price drastically. Obtaining the PS5 Pro with all its features implies a payment of 950 euros.
PS5 Pro: 799.99 euros
Stand: 29.99 euros
Disc reader: 119.99 euros
Total: 949.97 euros

Having the most advanced console is no longer a matter of having 500 euros; now it’s necessary to invest as much as in a high-end premium smartphone. The days are over when a ‘pro’ version of PlayStation was launched years later at the same price as the standard version, as happened with the PS4 and the PS4 Pro.
Personally, I acquired my PS5 with integrated vertical support and disc reader for 499.99 euros a few years ago. Currently, to get the same configuration in the ‘professional’ version, you have to pay almost double.
If you’re willing to assume this cost, you’ll have to wait until November 7th, the date scheduled by Sony for the launch of the PS5 Pro. However, if you prefer to anticipate some expenses, the stand and disc reader are already available on their website.
