The Italian Embassy in the Dominican Republic, headed by the excellent Ambassador Sergio Maffettone, officially presented the first edition of the photography contest “Instantes de Italy: Italy through the Dominican gaze”. The event brought together representatives of the diplomatic corps, allied institutions, special guests, and the media, who learned about the details of this project that invites Dominicans to capture the essence, culture, landscapes, traditions, and influence of Italy.
The evening was hosted by the distinguished communicator María Angélica Ureña, who accompanied the development of the night and explained the requirements and deadlines for participation. Ambassador Maffettone highlighted that the contest represents an opportunity to further strengthen the historical and cultural relationship between the two countries, promoting the creativity and talent of Dominican photographers.
Among the attendees was the presence of Mr. Ángelo Viro, president of the Italian House, and Nicole Medina, communications advisor of the Vice Ministry for Dominican Communities Abroad, who attended in representation of the Ambassador, Vice Minister, and Executive Director of the Institute of Dominicans and Dominican Women Abroad (INDEX), Celinés Toribio.
Awards and Recognition
Winners will be able to enjoy two air flights to Italy thanks to Neos Air, as well as other recognitions and special surprises. The names of the winners will be officially announced by the Italian Embassy during the month of December, as part of the closing of the first edition.
Toast and Musical Closing
As part of the evening, attendees shared a toast and listened to a special presentation by violinist Eva Cammaro, who offered an emotional musical closing to the launch of the contest, creating an atmosphere inspired by the richness of Italian culture and art.
