San Francisco de Macorís, May 29, 2024. In a ceremony filled with emotion, Senator Franklin Romero and several city authorities took the cup that recognizes the Giants of San Francisco as champions of the National Basketball League (LNB). The event was held at the local stadium, where the president of the Giants Basketball Club, José Marrero Rizek, presented the trophy along with his shareholders Luis Esmurdoc, Carlos Negrín Antonio and Luis Elías Esmurdoc Cunillera.
The municipal mayor Alex Díaz, the provincial sports director Juan Liberato and the provincial governor of Duarte, Ana Xiomara Cortés (represented by her assistant Dennis Hernández), were present. Also attending were businessman Siquió Manuel Salazar Ng and Nikauris Rodríguez, assistant to the senator.
The message from Romero
Francisco Romero expressed his satisfaction at receiving the trophy and congratulated players, technical staff and directors. “Receiving this cup is a source of pride for the entire Duarte province. This victory is the result of the effort, discipline and dedication of our players, coaches and directors”, said the legislator.
The senator highlighted the positive impact of basketball on youth, describing it as “an important instrument for promoting values such as discipline, teamwork, perseverance and commitment”. He concluded that he will continue to support initiatives that generate more opportunities for the young people of the province.
