In a coordinated effort by the distribution company Edesur Dominicana and its partners, the Dominican Electricity Transmission Company (ETED) and the Dominican Hydroelectric Generation Company (EGEHID), a series of works have been scheduled to optimize the quality and stability of the electrical service in the Neiba, Bahoruco, and surrounding areas.
Objectives and scope of the project
The works, which will be executed both in the short and medium term, aim to strengthen the operational conditions of the NEYB102 circuit, which is fed by the Neiba Electrical Substation. With this, it is intended to improve the functioning of the NEYB101 and NEYB103 circuits, which are also supplied by that substation.
Maintenance and equipment
- Maintenance of the 10.5 MVA power transformer located at the Las Damas Central, owned by EGEHID.
- Installation of a regulator bank in the same central.
- Construction of a new medium voltage outlet from the Jimaní Substation, which will allow dividing the load of the NEYB102 circuit.
- Optimization of the capacitor bank in the Duvergé Substation and the installation of a new equipment in the Neiba Substation.
Expected benefits
The combination of these interventions will improve voltage regulation and the operating conditions of the medium voltage network, which covers a distance of 181.16 kilometers. The length of the circuit presents technical challenges, especially related to the voltage levels of the 69 kV transmission line that feeds it.
Benefited users
The users who will be favored are those who live in El Estero, Villa Jaragua, Las Clavellinas, Los Ríos, Postrer Río, La Descubierta, Guayabal, Boca Cachón, Bartolomé, Los Pinos del Edén, Ángel Félix, Boca Cachón Nuevo, and Tierra Nueva de Jimaní. It is expected that the new configuration will reduce voltage drops and increase power supply continuity.
