The session opened with the video “The Story of Tatica”, an emotional account of migration that underscored the need for human bridges between nations. Yudith Féliz, attorney specializing in migration law for the US, Europe, and Canada, explained visas and orderly legal processes. Her intervention highlighted how Dominican Republic facilitates a safe health, investment, and migration hub.

Timothy Tubbs, former head of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), shared tips for protecting visas and avoiding risks. Data from the World Bank indicates that Dominican migration generates remittances of over $10 billion annually, driving local economic growth.

Medical tourism and emotional support in the health, investment, and migration hub

Dr. Tania Medina, renowned plastic surgeon, positioned Dominican Republic as a leading destination in health tourism. With over 500,000 aesthetic procedures annually, according to the Dominican Society of Plastic Surgery, the country competes globally for quality and accessible prices.

Milly Féliz, psychologist and winner of the Dominican Emigrant Award, addressed migrant grief. She emphasized the importance of emotional accompaniment for migrants, a key aspect of the health, investment, and migration hub model.
