The Caribbean nation stands out in economic growth and poverty reduction
Santo Domingo.– The Dominican Republic has consolidated itself as one of the most prosperous countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, by reaching the fifth place in the new “Prosperity Index”, which evaluates both economic growth and quality of life and social well-being.
In the most recent Prosperity Index, which analyzes the integral development of 186 countries based on economic and social factors, the Dominican Republic has achieved a prominent place in the region: the number 5 position among 23 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a score of 37.4 out of 100.

This “Prosperity Index” is based on data from the World Bank and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
With this result, the country is ranked only behind Chile, Uruguay, Panama, and Argentina, surpassing relevant economies in the region such as Brazil, El Salvador, Costa Rica, and Colombia.
This rise evidences notable advances in key variables such as the increase in GDP per capita and the sustained reduction in monetary poverty. These results also reflect significant advances in the country in variables such as the growth of GDP per capita and the gradual decrease in the monetary poverty rate.
With this new classification, the Dominican Republic consolidates its position as one of the most dynamic emerging economies in the region that seeks to transform economic progress into tangible well-being for all Dominican citizens.
