Santo Domingo. – The hearing for the coercive measure against the alleged responsible parties for the death of the 7-year-old girl in Los Guandules has been postponed until tomorrow, as reported by William González, the lawyer for the minor’s family.
The postponement occurred following an argument by the defense attorneys of the female defendant, who requested that she be evaluated by a psychologist.
“The defendant should be evaluated by a psychologist, but the certificate can take two or three months. The judge allowed the psychological evaluation at this preliminary stage, but today one of the defendants’ lawyers rejoined the case and asked for the postponement,” González explained.
The lawyer added that tomorrow’s hearing aims to ensure that all participants are present and that the process unfolds in an orderly manner.
“Tomorrow everyone must be complete at the same time. They claim that the defendant was listening to music very loudly and, therefore, they consider that she should be evaluated psychologically. But if we base it on that, everyone should be evaluated,” González pointed out, emphasizing that the defense’s argument was considered insufficient to justify the delay, but allowed for the postponement while the corresponding procedures are organized.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office is requesting three months of preventive custody against the defendants while the judicial process takes place.
