The Punta Cana Macao Energy Consortium (CEPM) will complete the construction of an additional thermal facility by 2025, increasing its generation capacity by 37.05 megawatts.
The facility, identified as PC12, will incorporate four high-efficiency engines, thereby improving the electricity supply in its service area.
The development of this plant arises in response to the increase in energy demand, driven by the continuous growth of the tourism sector in the region.
CEPM provides energy to 65% of the national tourism industry, supplying power to more than 58,000 hotel rooms.
Despite the construction of the new thermal plant, representatives of CEPM communicated to De Último Minuto their intention to continue diversifying their electricity generation portfolio.
Currently, they manage 10 solar parks with a capacity of 247 MWp, administer 21 solar parks in hotels with a total of 21 MWp, and maintain six solar parks for commercial clients.
It is important to highlight that Roberto Herrera is the executive director of CEPM, which is a company of the InterEnergy Group, led by Rolando González Bunster.
