The Dominican deputy Brailyn Miguel Vargas Núñez, known as Bray Vargas, has been selected to carry the name of the Dominican Republic to the Mister Global 2026 competition, which will take place in Thailand during the month of October. In March of this year, the legislator received the official designation of Mister Global Dominican Republic 2026, along with the band that certifies his participation on the international stage.
Career in male pageants
Vargas had already represented the country at Mister Supranational 2024, held in Poland. In that edition, he reached the top ten finalists, an achievement that adds to the most notable international results he has obtained throughout his career in male pageants. His experience in these events provides him with a solid foundation to compete in Mister Global.
The deputy’s double role
Currently, the young legislator combines his fashion career with his responsibilities in the Chamber of Deputies. He represents the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) for the third district of Santiago in the current congressional term. Before ascending to the national legislature, Vargas also held an elected municipal position as a councilor.
A closing chapter in pageants
According to Vargas, his participation in Thailand will practically mark the end of a phase linked to pageants and modeling. Once the competition is over, he plans to considerably reduce his activities in front of the cameras to devote more attention to his political responsibilities. Nevertheless, he did not rule out occasionally collaborating with designers who have supported him throughout his career.
Preparations and expectations
The deputy has begun to fine-tune his physical and mental preparation for the international competition. Among his goals is to proudly represent the Dominican Republic and stand out on a global stage that brings together the best male models from each country. Vargas’s participation in Mister Global 2026 is also seen as an opportunity to strengthen the country’s visibility in the cultural and entertainment arena worldwide.
Impact on local politics
His presence on the international scene can generate greater recognition for the province of Santiago and for the Dominican Liberation Party. Likewise, the deputy has noted that his participation in the pageant will allow him to strengthen the country’s diplomatic and commercial relations by interacting with delegations from various nations.
Relevance for the Dominican community
Vargas’s case highlights the possibility for public figures to combine political careers with other disciplines, such as fashion, without losing effectiveness in their mandate. This duality can serve as inspiration for young Dominicans seeking to balance their professional aspirations with civic commitment.
