Boca Chica y Pedernales impulsan turismo unido

Boca Chica and Pedernales seal a private tourism alliance pioneer in the Dominican Republic. This pact, led by Terrazas de Boca Chica of Studio 27 and Bahía Cueva de las Águilas with Vista de las Águilas EcoLodge, was signed in Bogotá during the Dominican Night, celebrating the 182nd anniversary of Independence.

The event brought together over 200 guests, including influencers and Colombian travel agents. Attendees tried Dominican cuisine, danced merengue, and watched videos of the beaches of Boca Chica and Pedernales. This union connects the tourism of the east sun and beach with the ecotourism of the southwest, offering complete routes of rest and adventure.

Leaders behind the private tourism alliance

Fausto Florentino, president of Studio 27 and Terrazas de Boca Chica, and Santiago Rodríguez, of Cueva de las Águilas, head the initiative. Both stand out for sustainable projects that benefit local communities. Florentino drives the central coast, while Rodríguez explores the virgin coasts of Pedernales.

Context of Dominican tourism

The Dominican Republic receives around 10 million tourists a year, with Colombia as the key market, contributing over 300,000 visitors in 2023 according to data from the Central Bank. Boca Chica and Pedernales complement destinations like Punta Cana, diversifying the offer. Pedernales, with its Jaragua National Park, attracts ecotourists, while Boca Chica offers accessible beaches near Santo Domingo.

Economic and sustainable impact

This private tourism alliance aims to capture more Colombian travelers, strengthening bilateral ties. The entrepreneurs emphasize community development and environmental preservation. In a country where tourism generates 16% of the GDP, initiatives like this promote private multi-destinations for the first time.

  • Key benefits: Combined routes of beach and nature.
  • Focus: Sustainability and national pride.
  • Scope: Colombian market and global investments.

The announcement in Bogotá symbolizes Dominican unity. Boca Chica and Pedernales position themselves as an unbeatable duo, projecting hospitality and beauty to the world. This strategy could raise receptive tourism by 20% in these poles, according to sectoral projections, driving employment and local economy.
