This Wednesday, weightlifter Beatriz Pirón secured her third Olympic diploma after finishing in seventh position in her fourth attendance at the Olympic Games.

Competing in the 49-kilogram category, Pirón placed among the top eight for the third time in a multi-sport event. Prior to this, she achieved fourth place in the 2016 Rio Games, almost reaching the bronze medal by just one kilo, and in Tokyo 2020, she finished eighth.

The standout medalist in the Central American and Caribbean Games and the Pan American Games, achieved a total of 192 kilos (85 in snatch and 107 in clean and jerk) placing her in seventh place in the Paris 2024 Games.

Native of San Pedro de Macorís, Pirón marked a milestone in Dominican sports with her performance today, as she became the first woman athlete from the country to participate in four editions of the Olympic Games, inscribing her name alongside Félix Sánchez as one of the only Dominican athletes with four participations in this major sporting event.

Her first experience in Olympic competitions was in London 2012, where she placed ninth.

With her recent participation, the question arises as to whether Beatriz aims for her fifth Olympic presence in Los Angeles 2028 or decides to retire. However, the demonstrated by the 29-year-old athlete suggests that she still has potential to continue representing the Dominican Republic, especially with the upcoming Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo 2026 in sight.
