The RD Intelligent initiative, driven by the Dominican government and executed by the Americas Technology Institute (ITLA), has reached a total of 54,000 registered participants in just 16 days of its launch. This national literacy program in artificial intelligence aims to expand access to knowledge and tools of artificial intelligence for their academic, work, professional, and personal activities.
The reference value of the free training offered to citizens is estimated at RD$291,600,000, calculated on the basis of a course per participant and taking as a reference an approximate international market value per course of artificial intelligence. As of the date, 4,968 participants have completed at least one training module, while 54,000 active participants are registered and 16,757 new people have been incorporated into the platform in the last week.
Geographical scope and target audience
RD Intelligent registers participation in the 31 provinces of the country and the National District, which demonstrates the geographical scope of the initiative. The target audience includes high school and higher education students, teachers and educational staff, private sector employees, public servants, entrepreneurs and micro-enterprises, as well as citizens interested in incorporating artificial intelligence tools into their daily activities.
Vision and objectives
The initiative presents a vision of literacy in artificial intelligence that goes beyond the strictly technological field and seeks to enable citizens of different profiles to know and use these tools according to their needs. The ITLA rector, Jimmy Rosario Bernard, highlighted the importance of making artificial intelligence accessible to everyone and turning it into a useful tool for personal, academic, and professional development.
Upcoming milestones
With 54,000 registered people, RD Intelligent is 45,988 participants away from reaching the next control point of 100,000 people, before advancing towards the milestones of 500,000 and one million participants. The goal is for one million Dominicans to incorporate knowledge of artificial intelligence into their current abilities, as part of the process of strengthening the country’s digital competencies.
