Rafael Devers se une oficialmente a los Gigantes de San Francisco: una nueva era en Oracle Park

By Raúl Germán Bautista — In a move that is still shaking the Major Leagues, star Dominican third baseman Rafael Devers was welcomed and introduced today by his new team, the San Francisco Giants, at Oracle Park, located in the city’s vibrant SoMa district. The slugger’s arrival marks the beginning of a new chapter for both the player and the historic California franchise.

Devers, 28, left an indelible mark on the Boston Red Sox, the team with which he debuted in 2017 at 20 years of age. Since then, he established himself as one of the most feared hitters in Major League Baseball. His career offensive line says it all: a .279 batting average, 215 home runs, 273 doubles, a .349 on-base percentage, and an .859 OPS. Numbers that place him in the offensive elite of today’s baseball.

In January 2023, Boston sought to secure his talent long-term, signing him to an 11-year, $331 million contract, one of the most lucrative extensions in club history.

However, strategic changes within the organization, which moved him off third base, and the growing interest from other franchises led to his trade to San Francisco, a city with high championship aspirations.

The Giants’ front office spared no resources to acquire Devers’ services, seeking to revitalize an offense that has lacked consistent power in recent years. The acquisition of the Dominican star also sends a clear message to the fans: the team is ready to compete at the highest level.

With Devers and his hot bat igniting the heart of the lineup, the San Francisco Giants are shaping up to be serious contenders in the National League for the 2025 season.
