A Dominican named Luis, detained for the case of his compatriot Ronni, has attracted public attention after the publication of videos that are said to have been recorded inside his prison. In the images, Luis appears alongside another inmate commenting on his situation, and pronounces the phrase “Imprisoned, but not without life”. The videos, published on Thursday, October 8 by the Spanish newspaper OKDIARIO, caused discomfort among Ronni’s relatives and acquaintances while the authorities continue with the proceedings linked to the case.
The incident that originated the case
On September 13, at the exit of the Quinta Avenida nightclub, in Parla, a zone of the Community of Madrid, a scuffle broke out between Luis and Ronni. The 24-year-old young man, Dominican and marmolista, had emigrated to Spain during his childhood and knew Luis, who also lived near Ronni’s family. According to the preliminary reconstruction of the police, both would have sustained a discussion after leaving the local. Luis would have briefly withdrawn and returned accompanied by another man, giving rise to a new confrontation. During the episode, Ronni suffered a serious injury to the neck and needed assistance from emergency services.
Intervention of emergency services
Emergency teams received the alert around 6:35 am and, upon arrival, found Ronni unresponsive. After initiating resuscitation maneuvers, the young man lost his life at the scene. The second young Dominican, identified as a friend of Ronni, was injured and taken to the Hospital Universitario Puerta de Hierro de Majadahonda. There is no information available on his subsequent evolution.
Impact of the dissemination of the videos
The appearance of the recordings attributed to Luis has added a new public element to the case that is already under the scrutiny of Spanish authorities. Although the videos do not alter the accused’s judicial situation, they generate greater scrutiny of his role in the incident.
