Switzerland / Mexico (August 14, 2026). — With decades of experience taking salsa to the most demanding stages in the world, Mercadonegro presents its latest release: “México 2.0”, a single born from genuine admiration for a country that has been a home, a stage, and a loyal audience for the Swiss orchestra. To give voice to this tribute, Mercadonegro brought together one of the strongest exponents of contemporary Mexican salsa: Jimmy Rodríguez.

The track is signed by Edy Villanueva, Rodrigo Rodríguez, José Armando Miranda, and Jimmy Rodríguez. The musical arrangements were handled by Mercadonegro in collaboration with Colombian pianist Óscar Iván Lozano (OILO), whose harmonic sensibility brings a dimension of depth and elegance to the final result. Jimmy Rodríguez’s voice completes the equation: direct, warm, with the interpretive weight that a theme of this magnitude demands.

“México 2.0 is a tribute to Mexico, the warmth of its people, and our traditions. More than a song, it is an expression of gratitude to the Mexican people for all their support and affection for our music”, expressed Jimmy Rodríguez and Mercadonegro.

Founded in Switzerland as a confluence of musicians from Peru, Colombia, Cuba, Venezuela, Italy, and Brazil, Mercadonegro built its reputation on a sound that yields no ground: high-caliber salsa, with demanding arrangements and a stage presence that has conquered festivals such as the Montreux Jazz Festival, Glastonbury, Ronnie Scott’s in London, and the Bal de la Rose in Monaco.

Throughout their career, they have shared the stage with Celia Cruz —with whom they worked for three consecutive years—, José Alberto “El Canario”, Cheo Feliciano, Tito Nieves, Willie Chirino, and Richie Ray & Bobby Cruz, among other references of the genre. They are also part of the New York Salsa All Stars project, alongside Giovanni Hidalgo, Jimmy Bosch, and Dave Valentín.

Jimmy Rodríguez, on the other hand, adds this release to a catalog that includes “El Rumbón”, “Cielito Lindo”, “Si Me Quisieras”, and “300 Besos Ricos” —songs that have solidified his name as one of the benchmark voices of salsa in Mexico and worldwide—, and which have led him to share the stage with Gilberto Santa Rosa, Marc Anthony, Maelo Ruiz, and Tito Nieves, among others.

“México 2.0” is available on all digital music platforms. The official music video is now available on YouTube. Watch official video here
